The District's various small towns and northern border is shared with the Republic of Togo. Ketu South's constituency is located to the southeast. To the southwest is the Keta District. On the northwestern side is the Akatsi District, which shares the same boundaries with the Avenor-Ave constituency.

There are four Traditional Paramount Chiefs in the District ruling from Afife, Dzodze, Penyi, and Weta. These Paramount Chiefs collaborate in the implementation of most development projects.

The District has a population of about 100,000 people. The people are predominantly peasant farmers in rice, maize, cassava, sweet potatoes, vegetables, etc. This rural community lacks basic development and has not, unfortunately, reaped the rewards of multi-party democracy or Ghana's resources, such as oil.

Agriculture

In terms of economics, agriculture is the mainstay of the District’s economy. It employs about 70% of the economically active labour force. Nearly every household in the District is engaged in farming or agricultural related activity. Farming in the District is largely carried out on small-scale basis. The average acreage cultivated ranges between 4-6 acres for all crops.

Despite its importance in the District economy, much of the agricultural potential in the District remain underutilized. The District’s irrigation potential remains fully untapped. Apart from the Afife irrigation project nothing, concrete has been done to develop irrigation potential that have been discovered in the District, taking into consideration the numerous dams and dugouts in the District.

Resources permitting, our Foundation would like to focus upon:

  • Farming: With help, crops can exported for foreign exchange. This will go a long way to bring relief to farmers.
  • Animal Husbandry: Animal rearing is also another important economic activity in the constituency. We can encourage and support farmers take up rearing goats, pigs, cattle, rabbits, fowls, ducks, guinea fowls, and aquaculture as a full time job for the national as well as international markets.
  • Handicraft: Handicraft such as carving, arts, basket weaving, Kente weaving, and other weavings are well known in the District. This venture can be encouraged and supported on a very large scale to bring relief to the people of Ketu North.

Essential Services

In the area of essential services the following are measure that can be targeted to help

  • Water: This is an essential commodity for human existence. Any effort made for development shall be meaningless if water is lacking. Efforts shall be made to provide good drinking water to all communities in the constituency.
  • Shelter: Shelter is also one of the most important factors affecting the existence of human being. All efforts shall be made to encourage the provision of decent accommodation to the people in the villages.
  • Electricity: Government’s policy on electricity made it possible that most of the villages within the District. What is left now is for the people to be assisted to use the power in local small-scale industries that would create more jobs for the people.
  • Education: It is universally acceptable education is the key to development, it is therefore needed for the development of every community. However, the entire District can only boast of only two (2) senior secondary schools ie, Dzodze-penyi Senior Secondary School and Wovenu Senior Secondary School at Tadzewu. Thus we intend to concentrate our efforts in ensuring additional senior secondary schools be constructed to support the existing ones in order to absorb the numerous school leavers whose potentials go to waste each year.
  • Health: The health of every people is paramount to growth. In order to have accelerated growth, however, there is the need to intensify public health education in order to prevent diseases and also to provide more health centres to be accessible to the people as well as to encourage and bring the CHIP (Community Health Institution Programme) to the people.

Social Services

  • Social Centres: There is the need to provide more recreational facilities and centres.
  • Sports: We have started initiatives to harness the power of sports to rescue the youth in the villages off the streets and turn their hopeless lives around. We invite you to take a stand against poverty and heed their appeal for your assistance to establish a sports academy. Together we can use the power of sports to rescue children off the streets and dramatically transform the lives of these deprived young people in my village. You are welcome to assist in any way you deem fit and within your means and rich vast contacts.
